Pilkington authorised Lancastrian pottery vase
Pilkington authorised Lancastrian Pottery vase. This vase has a truly wonderful glaze. Pilkington's started in 1897, and from then on there were a number of changes to its name and location, which makes identification somewhat subtle! There are often mixes of marks and impressions which adds to the complexity.

This vase is Lancastrian, but after the original Lancastrian and Royal Lancastrian. It was made by the Blackpool company probably in the 1970's. Pilkingtons make tiles today. The glaze is honey and aubergine. It is a great combination and seems to dribble down the sides. A really nice modern piece with an incomparable heritage. A must for anyone's collection of art pottery or glazes.
